Edison, watch out cause Orion hinchy has ideas

I have thought of a revolutionary idea: virtual pets that aren't so virtual anymore. However, Before you say "cats and dogs, hello!", think about it this way. We all know matter can be put together and pulled apart, right? Well what if someone created a robot with artificial inteligence that actually made itself different by eating, therfor changing it's appearance by rearranging the molocules of the food it consumes. We would give a kid a smaller, more childish robot, and as the kid grows up, so does the robot!

Charlie the lab mix

Sorry about the long wait, I was having summer fun and boredom. Now, on with the post!

My family and I have adopted a new dog. His name is Charlie, and he is the perfect compromise for my little brother raven and I. Raven wanted a calm dog, and I wanted a playful dog who liked to be petted. Charlie loves running outside, and laying down and being petted inside. He never jumps too, and I love him.

The tents night

Last night I decided to sleep in my tent. Our cat fluffernutter usually is out late at night, and started batting on the outside of my tent, so I let him in. As soon as he went in, I tried to go to sleep again. He climbed up on my legs, his front legs slipped off. His legs came back up and then it came back down. Repeat step number 2 fifty times and you get the point. Eventually, I decided to go inside, and when I looked at the clock it was 4:30 am.

In the end, all I learned was that nocturnal cats are not good camping companions

TED video: Mosquito laser targeting

Mosquitos may have malaria. While they don't have it in the USA, the Mosquitos are making more and more hideous wriggling larvae offspring teeming with malaria parasites. I watched a TED video about a machine that can shoot mosquitoes right out of the sky. The best part is that they use a laser to burn off the wings! But be warned, it is dangerous! They even made a sign that says: warning! Do not look at laser with remaining eye. Just imagine, a laser that targets mosquitoes. Bzzzz zap! Bzzzz zap! Bzzzz zap!

TED video: social experimenting shows unexpected results

In the TED talk I watched today, a woman was talking about social experimenting to figure out whether relief towards haiti and other countries really helps. Africa needed kids to attend schools, immunizing, and a solution that either proves or disproves that people were more likely to use free items for the intended use.

In order to get more kids to attend schools they figured out that deworming the children for free gets mire kids to come to school. With immunizing, the woman figured out that
Bed tents are useful for screening out mosquitos that cause malaria. When she tried to figure out how to get people to use them properly, she estimated that people might use bedtents for fishing, for example. When the results showed, it said that people use them properly most of the time, and that people will accept buying them if the bedtents were 65 cents as well.

Back from vacation

Being back from a relaxing visit at my aunt's house, I was fully prepared to adjust to the boring life at home, or so I thought.
My little brother had an orange lollypop and tried to project his voice. The problem was that he wasn't trained in that sort of thing, and ended up screaming. If that wasn't bad enough, the TED app for my iPod touch isn't working at all. I thought that this would be relaxing to come home!

Gaming superpowers

According to the TED video I just watched, multiplayer and online gaming not only increases trust in each other, but also gives gamers the ability of super-empowered optimism from doing things that 'saves' the online world. Reasearchers are doing their thing around gaming, and how gaming can affect a person's ability to solve problems.

Different games can give your brain different ways to think if a challenge is applied. Breeding games can help you think how to make animals have desired traits. Action games require quick thinking, whereas RPGs can let you solve problems. I believe that if gamers could apply their virtual skills to real life, then we, as a species, would prosper

Cats are crazy: theory by Orion hinchy

The facts:

I have personally witnessed cats trying to show who gets to own a stump, and all they do is meow and roll around.

Some spray a foul-smelling chemical out of their posterior on to you(I have experienced this twice), and others go out of their way to make kittens, regardless of gender.

Cats bite as well, and can have one nasty nip no matter what age.

Dogs are affectionate as a majority, but cats...

Have you ever heard a dog hiss? What about a cat that will lick your face?

Some cats sleep 12 hours a day

Sure dogs can bark, but cats can't tell whether someone is trustworthy.

And there you have it, undenyable proof that cats are crazy, some even evil.

Note: please do not take offence cat lovers, this is suppsed to be a joke (sorta)

My creation myth

I did this as an assignment, and I think it's pretty neat

Creation theory

At first there was nothing. Then, there was something. Anything. Everything. The great hands had sculpted our world from nothing, and yet there it was. Once they were finished with their work, the great hands gave it life. First, the miniscule things, such as bacteria. Then, they gave the life the ability to be unique from itself. Life grew, and started to make bigger things. First, it grew into aquatic things, still starting out small. Then, the fish grew lungs and lost their scales. Finally, the new land-fish grew scales again. They only had to drink water, not be in it. The new creatures (we call them dinosaurs) grew bigger. All the while, palnts had taken over. After having nothing inland for so long, the plants had flourished. Some dinosaurs prefered plants, and others liked to eat meat. Eventually, the hands grew tired of the dinosaurs, and sent a giant meteorite crashing down. The hands had hoped to start anew, but they had failed to notice that there were new, furry creatures that would someday replace the dinosaurs. The furry creatures decided to flee to the ocean, and there they grew tired. Eventually, some of them decided to move on to land, for they had grown tired of the ocean. Others decided to stay, and became things like dolphins and whales. The ones who moved onto land became happy at the sight of fresh greens. However, something seemed different . They noticed that there was no longer one big land, but several different ones. Once again, the creatures rose out of the ocean. To the furry ones' surprise, there were strange, flying creatures covered In feathers, soaring around the sky. The hands had grown busy creating other planets and trying to make life on those. Once the hands had come back to earth, to their suprise, there were furry creatures all over the planet! They noticed that there were strange beings with hair only on their heads, and gave them the gift of intelligence. The 'humans' as they were called, had a natural disadvantage compared to the others, and that is why some became convinced that they were superior to others, and some became one with nature. Others just minded their own business, but all had their own different theory of how the world was created. The hands tried to send more meteors down, but they had run out of nothing. There was something everywhere, and all they could do is watch as the humans dominated.

Awesome invention

The video

Today, I saw a video on TED that showed an invention that saves lives before anything goes wrong. It's a simple sleeping bag made for babies that have gone through a premature births. It can unfold both on the sides, and on the bottom as well. What really makes it unique Is that it has a wax-like substance that melts at the human body temperature. Because of that, it is able to keep the baby warmer for the cheap price of $25. Now that's a huge difference from the classic incubator, which is much harder to sterilyze and even more expensive. I know that a lot of guys my age would say "so what? Do we really need it?". We don't need it as much in america, which is why it is being released first in India. That is where a mother of a premature baby that died met one of the creators of the invention, which I can tell really meant a lot to the creator of this awesome invention.

Snow tired: the sequel

I am tired of snow; it has worn out it's welcome. I miss my friends that I like so much. All I see outside is white, the spots where it melted, and trees that look even more bare than usual. It has barely a sparkle anymore, and I am
snow tired of it.

Haiku

Snow is wonderful today
Falling softly slow
It seems to be alive now

I want to have a clubhouse
But today is not
I will use blankets today

Rugs can be on the wall
They might hold now
Tape or thumbtacks to use

Come my love into the light
Not the dieing kind
I will stay with you til death

Snow tired

Snow tired

I'm getting tired of snow, and i can tell you why. I never get to see any friends because the road is blocked. It may be nice at first, but snow is EVIL sometimes!

Snow days

Snow day: a day of outdoor freedom

Today it has snowed once again, and I think it's time to talk about snow days for homeschoolers. Whether or not the kids get to have the day off, it's up to the parent, and personally, I get to get out of work by going outside. My mother encourages me and my little brother to go outside, and when it snows it SNOWS. Some parents argue that they give their kids a day off because they deserve it, and others argue that because they give their kids a day off on regular school days. No matter what you think, snow days are stil fun.

Different ways to home(or un)school

Blog entry:

For those of you who unschool or are unschooled, I think a short history of unschooling would be appreciated, and a good reference for those who are wanting to homeschool or unschool.

Past: the parent would encourage the child to do things that might interest them, but wouldn't enforce anything.

Modern: the parent let's them do whatever, whenever (most of the time)

And just for good measure, I'll add homeschooling Too.

Homeschooling: the parent gives the child work and stuff like that, and tries to keep their child happy and challenged by their work

Note that this is what I understand about these different topics, and my descriptions are not perfect

Homeschooling: some prefer un

I may only be 13, but I think that homeschooling is better than unschooling for most kids. For those of you who unschool, I'm not telling you to stop. I'm just saying that a lot of kids need some sort of structure or they won't learn anything and will play videogames all day.
